thursday matinee: Junk Head 1

“Junk Head 1” — Takahide Hori

This week on Thursday Matinee we’re featuring the Takahide Hori stop-motion short film Junk Head 1. The 30-min feature is the result of four painstaking years of work by a single man [above] in his spare time. We’ve been running Sharx at least that long. Apparently we need to consider reallocating our spare time…

Junk Head 1 features a fully realized, bleak subterranean future filled with bizarre creatures that recalls the beautifully twisted minds of Burton, Del Toro and Lovecraft. It will soon be screened in the 2014 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, but for now its available online for your Thursday Matinee viewing pleasure.

If you enjoyed today’s matinee, you might consider supporting the artists campaign to make a sequel on IndieGogo. He even has permanent digital downloads of this very short available for as little as $5USD.
