“Lights Out”—by David Sandberg and Lotta Losten
First off, this is a short HORROR film. If that’s not your thing, don’t press play. This was a fun one to watch. It’s short, but really well done. It doesn’t fall on some typical tropes in horror films of using loud noise to scare you. There is music and sound that enhances the suspense, but it isn’t driven by it. The ending didn’t feel like a surprise, but I wouldn’t say that’s a bad thing. Sandberg also won best director for this film at the 2013 Bloody Cuts Who’s There? Horror Short Film Challenge. Give this a watch if you feel like raising your blood pressure.
