A little late to the party, but if you find yourself poolside this month throw on these handpicked jams and soak up the sun. If you like what you hear, then check out last year’s inaugural iteration: SMRJMZ#1.

Maybe we’ll even finally get the hang of this and have #3 up EARLY next summer. Probably not.

“Myke Ptyson”—STRFKR

STFKR, also known as Starfucker, is an indie, pop, electronica band that formed in 2007 in Portland, Oregon. This is a perfect song to get you going for the rest of the week. Good vibes and bouncy. Don’t let anything get you down. At the end of August, the band is going to be in San Marcos, Texas for Float Fest.

IP: “My Girls” — Animal Collective

“My Girls”Animal Collective

Last week we posted a cover of this song by the Swedish singer Taken By Trees. We just thought we’d give you the original to compare it to. Certainly a very different version of this song. More ethereal and psychedelic, as in Animal Collective’s motive. Give it a listen and see for yourselves. Animal Collective always is a good way to start out your week.

“Sixpack”JEFF and the Brotherhood

This is the kind of rock I can get behind. JEFF and the Brotherhood is made up of Jake and Jamin Orrall, and the indie duo pumps out some wicked tunes. I’m not going to lie, I’m probably going to be jamming to this one all week. It’s just raw, catchy and driving. A perfect way to finish off your weekend, but keep you going until the next.

“Badonkadonkey”—Born Ruffians

This is one of my favorite songs by the Canadian indie group Born Ruffians. Granted, I dig a bunch of their other tunes, so you should seriously check out what they have to offer.  “Badonkadonkey” is just a fun piece with enough slurred lyrics that just lets you dance along and absorb the vibe. I have no idea about this specific video, sorry. Born Ruffians also recently released a deluxe edition of their latest album Birthmarks that features new acoustic tracks.

“The Warehouse Song”—The Extraordinaries

This is a song I stumbled across the other day and has just stuck in my head. It’s just punchy with a catchy melody and just enough discord in the tune to make me put it on repeat. The punk/folk/indie band hails from Philadelphia. This track is from their 2006 album Short Stories. They recently put out a new EP titled The Pen Pals.

“Want To Be Wanted” – Dead Horse Beats

We’ve featured Dead Horse Beats before, but it’s been too long. Plus, the multi-instrumentalist DJ/Producer from Montreal by-way-of-Halifax just dropped a new album, & it’s incredible. Expanding from the collage-like hip hop beats and remixes from past works, new album “Single People” embraces the dance inducing grooves of contemporary electronica to provide a truly diverse sonic experience. Go to his Bandcamp or Soundcloud, & buy some music.

“dress” – kigo

Kigo is a dream pop-ish shoegaze band out of Brisbane, Australia. Combining a shoegaze sensibility with a bedroom electonica ethic kigo’s songs slowly evolve from cacophony of noisy elements to a blissful audio drone. I’m really digging this band. Be sure to check out kigo’s bandcamp, well worth a listen.

“Nightwater Girlfriend” – Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin

The other day Clint reminded me of how little we listen to Boris Yeltsin, especially considering how great this band is. So today’s Infinite Playlist selection is to help correct that. This song comes from 2013’s “Fly by Wire” via Polyvinyl Records. Have a good weekend.

“How the Ranks Was Won” – Brazos

Austin local-turned-NYC-resident Martin McNulty Crane is Brazos (the band, not the river). As you take a moment to reflect on the week (mine’s been super busy) go ahead and have a listen to this spectacular song off his second album “Saltwater”.  Via Dead Oceans.
